Foxfire Ridge Retreat awaits you in the picturesque mountains of Grayson County Virginia. Featuring two king suites, it’s ideal for families traveling together. (Our cabin comfortably accommodates 11, but be advised that’s counting the kids room. The three beds in this room are twin sized and themed for children. We chose Casper mattresses for the bunks so adults will still sleep comfortably if they choose to use the space.) There are two king bedrooms each with ensuite bath, one room with two twin XL beds, a kids room with a cabin style low bunk and chair that folds out into a twin, and Catnapper sofa in the loft that folds out into a queen size bed.
We take care to provide clean, comfortable bedding. Supportive mattresses generously piled with Pacific Coast pillows and layered with cozy bedding ensure you wake up well rested and ready to tackle any outdoor adventure. Our mattresses are a combination of the best. We chose several of Consumer Reports top rated mattresses. The upstairs king bed has a Tuft and Needle Original mattress; kids twin bunk has two Casper Sleep Element mattresses, the double twin xl’s are Northern Nights Dream Supreme Hybrids, and the downstairs king is a Serta Plush Pillowtop Perfect Sleeper (my personal favorite). Each mattress is encased in a full enclosure allergen/dust mite cover and then topped with another protective mattress cover. Even the throw pillows inserts are encased in Allersoft allergen/dust mite covers. All linens, including mattress covers, coverlets, shams, and throw pillow covers, comforters (and of course, sheets) are washed before you check in. We use a fragrance and dye free detergent so guests with respiratory or skin sensitives can rest safely. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready for you to make beautiful meals and memories around the 7x4 farm style table handcrafted with reclaimed wormy chestnut barnwood. Not a fan of dirty dishes? Ditch the pots and pans and prepare a feast for your travel companions on the 6-burner gas grill with rotisserie attachment. The new Samsung kitchen appliance suite features a 28cu.ft. French door refrigerator with cool select pantry, a 24 inch top control dishwasher, a 30 inch 5.0cu.ft. Single Oven Electric Range with convection, and a 30 inch 1.9cu.ft. over-oven microwave.
Watch the sun rise over the eastern ridge in the morning with a superb cup of coffee from the Capresso 465 CoffeeTeam coffeemaker. The built-in conical bur grinder perfectly measures and grinds your coffee. We provide you with the amenity of amenities, a pound of freshly roasted whole bean coffee from our local Dark Hollow Roasters. Located just 15 minutes from Foxfire Ridge, Dark Hollow is an artisan custom coffee roaster. Everything they do is small batch. Expect this coffee to be one of the many highlights of your stay. If you’re not a coffee drinker, you can use our Electric Tea Kettle to achieve the perfect temperature for brewing your favorite tea. The two covered decks run the length of the cabin and offer a great view with space for outdoor dining or just good old-fashioned porch sitting and coffee-sipping.
Our cabin is carefully appointed for a stress free get away. At Foxfire Ridge Retreat all bedding linens are provided as are towels/wash cloths/hand towels. Toilet paper, paper towels, saran wrap, aluminum foil, grilling foil, ziplock bags, baking spray, cooking oil, salt pepper, a full rack of organic spices, cleaning supplies, dishwasher detergent, hair dryer, hand soap, dish soap and laundry detergent are among the everyday items you don’t have to worry about packing. We do not provide any personal hygiene items since these are so tied to personal preference. Enjoy anticipating your trip as you pack up only your personal essentials. We’ve taken care of the rest.
Three bathrooms ensure that you never have to wait in line to brush your teeth in the morning. Two 50-gallon water heaters provide an abundant supply of hot water. All three bathrooms have new pressure assisted flush toilets and new AquaDance 7” Premium High Pressure 3-way Rainfall Combo Shower heads with six-setting hand held shower attachments. The two ensuite baths feature showers. The downstairs shower has a bathtub/shower so families traveling with children have a place to give the kiddos baths. Little touches like styling tool organizers, towel racks and hooks make getting ready at Foxfire Ridge Retreat convenient and comfortable.
Laundry becomes a joy instead of a burden with our new LG 7.3cu.ft Mega Capacity washer and matching dryer.
We provide a Dream on Me 2 in 1 lightweight folding portable side crib and a clip on high chair that attaches directly to the dining table for families with infants.
Relax with the family on our luxurious sofas. The living room features two leather sofas and matching chair while the upstairs loft has a chenille catnapper sleeper sofa that’s perfect for a cozy nap. In the evenings, roast marshmallows and relax beside the amply sized native stone firepit or play a game of cornhole in the level side-yard.
Retreat is in our name and we hope that retreating from the world is among your vacation objectives, but we live in the real world and we understand that you may have to keep in contact with it while you are away. Our wifi is excellent but our cell service isn’t. If US Cellular is your carrier, then you are likely to be able to receive calls on your cell, but if it isn’t you won’t have much luck. If your carrier is not US Cellular, you should make plans to communicate electronically through wifi during your stay. We will be providing a landline, but it is not yet installed as of this writing.
We have provided a single smart television with a dvd player in the living room. We have Netflix and Hulu and Disney Plus. Walk the short ¼ mile to our local community center, Goodwill Grange 959, to rent one of the thousand movies they have in stock. This old stone schoolhouse turned community center is also home to a lending library. The walls are lined with books and they are all free for the taking. You may keep them forever or return them at the end of your stay. The community center is also home to a computing center. Should you find yourself in need of a computer, printer or other office related item during your stay, just pop in.
Speaking of the Goodwill Grange, don’t miss out on Friday night Bingo. The games start at 7:00. There is an intermission for snacks and refreshments; this is potluck, bring something if you can, don’t worry if you can’t. Bring a stash of quarters. Game play is fifty cents per card, per game. Winner takes half the pot.
